Description
Enjoy the delightful taste of air-fried apple wedges, spiced with cinnamon and brown sugar. This simple recipe transforms fresh apples into a warm, sweet treat, perfect for dessert or a healthy snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium-sized apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon of melted butter (or coconut oil for a dairy-free option)
- 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- Cooking spray or additional oil for greasing the air fryer basket
Instructions
- Wash the apples thoroughly under running water to remove any wax or pesticides.
- Core the apples using an apple corer or a knife, carefully slicing around the core.
- Slice the apples into wedges, aiming for about 8 wedges per apple.
- Place the apple wedges in a large mixing bowl.
- In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
- Drizzle the lemon juice over the apple wedges to add flavor and prevent browning.
- Pour the melted butter over the apple wedges to help the sugar and spices stick.
- Sprinkle the sugar and spice mixture over the apples and toss gently until evenly coated.
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or brush with oil to prevent sticking.
- Place the apple wedges in the basket in a single layer. Cook in batches if necessary.
- Set the timer for 10 minutes. After 5 minutes, pause and shake the basket to ensure even cooking.
- Check for doneness after 10 minutes; they should be tender and slightly caramelized. Add 2-3 more minutes if you prefer them crispier.
- Carefully remove the basket and let the wedges cool for a few minutes.
- Transfer the cooked apple wedges to a serving platter, arranging them as desired.
- Drizzle with extra melted butter or sprinkle with cinnamon if desired. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat.
- Enjoy warm, or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer to restore warmth and crispiness.
Notes
- For a different flavor profile, try adding a splash of vanilla extract or a handful of chopped nuts.
- Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of brown sugar based on your taste preference.
