Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
- 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until well mixed.
- Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces for even cooking and better marinade absorption.
- Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover with plastic wrap or transfer to a resealable plastic bag. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or longer for enhanced flavor.
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C).
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or use a parchment paper liner to prevent sticking.
- In a small bowl, add the cornstarch.
- Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off.
- Sprinkle the cornstarch over the chicken pieces and toss gently to coat evenly.
- Place the coated chicken pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding.
- Cook at 380°F (193°C) for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket or flipping the chicken halfway through for even cooking.
- Check for doneness; the internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C). If not, cook for a few more minutes.
- Carefully remove the chicken from the air fryer and place it in a serving bowl.
- Drizzle extra sweet chili sauce over the top for added flavor. Optionally, toss the chicken in the remaining marinade for a saucier dish.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- For extra heat, feel free to increase the amount of red pepper flakes.
- Marinating the chicken overnight will yield even more flavor.
- Serve with rice or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
