  • Author: Lily
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

This Balsamic Glazed Chicken features tender chicken breasts marinated in a sweet and tangy balsamic vinegar and honey mixture. It’s easy to prepare, perfect for grilling or baking, and makes a delightful meal any night of the week. Enjoy it with your favorite sides for a complete dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the balsamic vinegar, honey, olive oil, minced garlic, dried thyme, and dried rosemary. Whisk until well blended.
  2. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste (start with about 1/2 teaspoon of salt and a pinch of pepper).
  3. Place the chicken breasts in a large resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring each piece is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish with plastic wrap.
  4. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for enhanced flavor.
  5. Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat, or preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  6. Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off. Discard the remaining marinade.
  7. If grilling, lightly oil the grill grates. Place the chicken on the grill and cook for about 6-7 minutes on one side.
  8. Flip the chicken and cook for an additional 6-7 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). If baking, place the chicken on a lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  9. Brush the chicken with reserved marinade during the last few minutes of cooking for added flavor.
  10. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the grill or oven and let it rest for about 5 minutes.
  11. Prepare any sides you’d like to serve with it, such as roasted vegetables or a fresh salad.
  12. Slice the chicken into strips or serve whole, drizzling any remaining glaze over the top.
  13. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.

Notes

  • Choosing the Right Chicken: Boneless, skinless chicken breasts are preferred, but thighs can be used for a richer flavor.
  • Marinating Time: Aim for at least 2 hours for maximum flavor, but 30 minutes will still yield delicious results.
  • Grilling vs. Baking: Grilling adds a smoky flavor, while baking is a great alternative if a grill isn’t available.
  • Serving Suggestions: Pairs well with quinoa, brown rice, or a simple pasta dish, along with steamed asparagus or a mixed green salad.
  • Storing Leftovers: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat with a splash of water or broth to keep it moist.
