Description
Crispy cauliflower florets coated in a flavorful batter and served with a spicy Bang Bang sauce, making it a perfect appetizer or snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 medium head of cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any milk of your choice)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Whisk these dry ingredients together until they are well mixed.
- Slowly pour in the almond milk while whisking continuously to create a smooth batter.
- Cut the cauliflower into bite-sized florets and place panko breadcrumbs in a separate bowl.
- Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, letting excess drip off, then roll in panko breadcrumbs until fully coated.
- Place the coated florets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot. Test with a small piece of batter; it should sizzle.
- Fry the cauliflower florets in batches for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Use tongs to turn them gently.
- Remove cooked florets with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and lime juice to make the Bang Bang sauce. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Arrange the fried cauliflower on a serving platter, drizzle with Bang Bang sauce, and garnish with cilantro. Serve hot!
Notes
- For a healthier option, you can bake the cauliflower instead of frying. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and bake for about 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Feel free to adjust the spices in the batter and the sauce to suit your taste preferences.
- This dish is perfect as an appetizer, snack, or even a main dish served with rice or salad.
