Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ball of fresh burrata cheese (about 8 ounces)
- 2 tablespoons of high-quality extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of honey (preferably local or artisanal)
- Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
- Sea salt, to taste
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
- Crusty bread or crostini, for serving
- Optional: Balsamic glaze for drizzling
Instructions
- Take the burrata out of the refrigerator about 30 minutes before serving to allow it to come to room temperature.
- Gently unwrap the burrata from its packaging, being careful as it can be delicate.
- Using a sharp knife, cut the burrata in half to reveal the creamy interior, or leave it whole for a dramatic presentation.
- In a small bowl, combine the extra virgin olive oil and honey. Adjust the ratio based on your preference for sweetness.
- Whisk the olive oil and honey together until well combined, creating a smooth mixture.
- Set the honey-olive oil mixture aside.
- Place the halved burrata on a serving plate.
- Drizzle a generous amount of the honey-olive oil mixture over the burrata.
- Sprinkle freshly cracked black pepper over the top.
- Finish with a pinch of sea salt.
- Tear fresh basil leaves into smaller pieces and scatter them over the burrata.
- Optionally, drizzle a little balsamic glaze over the top for added flavor and presentation.
- If using crusty bread, slice it into 1/2-inch thick pieces.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Arrange the sliced bread on a baking sheet in a single layer. Optionally brush with olive oil.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Keep an eye on it to prevent burning.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
- Arrange the prepared burrata on a serving platter alongside the crusty bread or crostini.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- For a more intense flavor, consider using a flavored olive oil, such as garlic or herb-infused.
