- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite)
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1 teaspoon dried herbs (like oregano or thyme, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and dried herbs. Whisk until well combined.
- Fold in the shredded cheese until evenly coated with the flour mixture.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, vegetable oil (or melted butter), and the egg until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
- Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with cooking spray or butter, or line it with parchment paper.
- Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Optionally, sprinkle extra cheese on top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cover with foil if browning too quickly.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled for at least 20 minutes, slice with a serrated knife.
- Enjoy the bread on its own or with butter, garlic spread, or marinara sauce.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
