  • Author: Lily
  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 1 loaf (approximately 8 slices) 1x

Description

This cheesy bread is a simple and delicious treat that features a light, fluffy texture and the rich flavors of melted cheese. Ideal for snacking, as a side dish, or a standalone meal, it’s a favorite among cheese enthusiasts and perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried herbs (like oregano or thyme, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and dried herbs. Whisk until well combined.
  3. Fold in the shredded cheese until evenly coated with the flour mixture.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, vegetable oil (or melted butter), and the egg until smooth.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  6. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with cooking spray or butter, or line it with parchment paper.
  7. Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Optionally, sprinkle extra cheese on top.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cover with foil if browning too quickly.
  9. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Once cooled for at least 20 minutes, slice with a serrated knife.
  11. Enjoy the bread on its own or with butter, garlic spread, or marinara sauce.
  12. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
