  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add the activated yeast mixture, olive oil, and salt. Stir to combine.
  3. Gradually add the all-purpose flour, one cup at a time, mixing with a wooden spoon or your hands until a dough begins to form. You may not need all the flour, so keep an eye on the consistency.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, sprinkle a little more flour as needed.
  5. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  6. While the dough is rising, gather your mozzarella cheese and sliced pepperoni. You can also mix in the garlic powder and Italian seasoning with the cheese for added flavor.
  7. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Transfer it back to a floured surface and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  9. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Layer the pepperoni slices on top of the cheese.
  10. Starting from one of the long edges, carefully roll the dough tightly into a log.
