- 6–8 cloves of garlic, minced
- ½ cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon oil (for sautéing)
Instructions
- Start by peeling and mincing about 6-8 cloves of garlic.
- In a bowl, combine ½ cup of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Whisk until the sugar dissolves.
- In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Pour the soy sauce mixture into the saucepan with the garlic and bring it to a gentle simmer.
- Slowly add the cornstarch slurry to the simmering sauce, stirring constantly. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Taste your sauce and adjust it if necessary, adding more sugar for sweetness or vinegar for tanginess.
- Once done, remove the sauce from heat and let it cool before storing it in a jar or container.
