Description

This Chinese Garlic Sauce is a flavorful blend of garlic, soy sauce, and sweetness that enhances any dish. Perfect for beef, tofu, or vegetables, it’s easy to make and a must-have in your kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 cloves of garlic, minced
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon oil (for sautéing)

Instructions

  1. Start by peeling and mincing about 6-8 cloves of garlic.
  2. In a bowl, combine ½ cup of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Whisk until the sugar dissolves.
  3. In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Pour the soy sauce mixture into the saucepan with the garlic and bring it to a gentle simmer.
  6. Slowly add the cornstarch slurry to the simmering sauce, stirring constantly. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  7. Taste your sauce and adjust it if necessary, adding more sugar for sweetness or vinegar for tanginess.
  8. Once done, remove the sauce from heat and let it cool before storing it in a jar or container.
