Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet, milk, or white)
- 1 cup nuts (walnuts or pecans)
- 1 cup mix-ins (dried cranberries, M&M's, toffee bits, crushed peppermint candies)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Use a hand mixer or stand mixer to cream them together until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, making sure each one is well incorporated before adding the next. If you’re using a flaxseed egg, add it now and mix well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Add your chocolate chips, nuts, and any other mix-ins you’ve chosen. Stir gently to evenly distribute.
- Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving enough space between each cookie.
- Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may look a little underbaked, but they will firm up as they cool.
- Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
