- 8 ounces of spaghetti or your favorite pasta
- 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)
- 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup of fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup of reserved pasta water
Instructions
- Fill a large pot with water and add a generous amount of salt. Bring it to a rolling boil over high heat.
- Add the spaghetti (or your chosen pasta) and cook according to the package instructions until al dente (about 8-10 minutes).
- Before draining, reserve about 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water.
- Drain the pasta in a colander without rinsing.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and slightly golden.
- If desired, add red pepper flakes and stir for about 30 seconds.
- Toss the drained pasta in the skillet with the garlic butter sauce.
- Gradually add reserved pasta water until you reach your desired sauce consistency.
- Add grated Parmesan cheese and toss until melted and creamy.
- Adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper.
- Stir in chopped parsley for freshness.
- Twirl the pasta onto plates or into bowls.
- Optionally, sprinkle extra Parmesan and parsley on top.
- Serve immediately, paired with a side salad or crusty bread.
