Enjoy a delightful Garlic Parmesan Pasta that’s quick to prepare, featuring al dente spaghetti in a rich garlic butter sauce, topped with freshly grated Parmesan and parsley. Ideal for a weeknight meal or a cozy gathering!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces of spaghetti or your favorite pasta
  • 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)
  • 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup of fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup of reserved pasta water

Instructions

  1. Fill a large pot with water and add a generous amount of salt. Bring it to a rolling boil over high heat.
  2. Add the spaghetti (or your chosen pasta) and cook according to the package instructions until al dente (about 8-10 minutes).
  3. Before draining, reserve about 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water.
  4. Drain the pasta in a colander without rinsing.
  5. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  6. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and slightly golden.
  7. If desired, add red pepper flakes and stir for about 30 seconds.
  8. Toss the drained pasta in the skillet with the garlic butter sauce.
  9. Gradually add reserved pasta water until you reach your desired sauce consistency.
  10. Add grated Parmesan cheese and toss until melted and creamy.
  11. Adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper.
  12. Stir in chopped parsley for freshness.
  13. Twirl the pasta onto plates or into bowls.
  14. Optionally, sprinkle extra Parmesan and parsley on top.
  15. Serve immediately, paired with a side salad or crusty bread.

Notes

  • Add Protein: Consider adding grilled chicken, shrimp, or sautéed vegetables for a heartier meal.
  • Make it Creamy: For a creamier sauce, add a splash of heavy cream or cream cheese when mixing in the Parmesan.
