Instructions
- Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the thinly sliced onions to the skillet and stir gently to coat them in the oil and butter mixture.
- Sprinkle the salt and sugar over the onions and stir to combine.
- Reduce the heat to low and cook the onions slowly, stirring every 10 minutes, for about 30-40 minutes until they are deep golden brown.
- Remove the caramelized onions from heat and let them cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream.
- Blend the cream cheese and sour cream together until smooth and creamy using a hand mixer or whisk.
- Add the Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper to the mixture and mix until well combined.
- Fold the cooled caramelized onions into the cream cheese and sour cream mixture using a spatula.
- Taste the dip and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Transfer the dip to a serving bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for best flavor).
- Before serving, stir the dip and add a splash of milk or cream if it’s too thick.
- Garnish with freshly chopped chives and serve with vegetable sticks, chips, or crackers.
- Enjoy with friends and family!
Notes
- For best results, use room temperature cream cheese to ensure a smooth dip.
