  • Author: Lily
  • Total Time: 135 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Enjoy a rich and creamy vegan chocolate mousse made with silken tofu for a healthier dessert option. This easy-to-make treat is perfect for everyone and can be customized with your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup silken tofu, drained
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup or honey (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup almond milk (or any milk of your choice)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips (optional, for extra richness)
  • Fresh berries or nuts for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients to ensure a smooth cooking process.
  2. Drain the silken tofu well to remove excess water. Use a clean kitchen towel to gently press out moisture.
  3. In a blender or food processor, add the drained silken tofu.
  4. Add the unsweetened cocoa powder to the blender.
  5. Pour in the maple syrup or honey, adjusting the amount to your taste.
  6. Add the almond milk to help blend the mixture smoothly.
  7. Incorporate the vanilla extract and salt to enhance flavor.
  8. If using, add dark chocolate chips for extra richness.
  9. Secure the lid on your blender and blend on high speed until smooth and creamy, about 1-2 minutes. Scrape down the sides as needed.
  10. Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness or chocolate flavor if desired.
  11. If the mousse is too thick, add more almond milk, one tablespoon at a time, until the desired consistency is reached.
  12. Transfer the mousse into serving dishes, covering them with plastic wrap or a lid.
  13. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight for enhanced flavor.
  14. Remove the mousse from the fridge. If too firm, stir to loosen.
  15. Top with fresh berries for color and flavor.
  16. Optionally, sprinkle with chopped nuts for added crunch.

Notes

  • For a vegan option, ensure to use dairy-free chocolate chips.
  • Adjust the sweetness according to your preference.
  • The mousse will thicken slightly when chilled, so avoid making it too runny.
