Description
Enjoy a rich and creamy vegan chocolate mousse made with silken tofu for a healthier dessert option. This easy-to-make treat is perfect for everyone and can be customized with your favorite toppings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup silken tofu, drained
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup maple syrup or honey (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 cup almond milk (or any milk of your choice)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips (optional, for extra richness)
- Fresh berries or nuts for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Gather all your ingredients to ensure a smooth cooking process.
- Drain the silken tofu well to remove excess water. Use a clean kitchen towel to gently press out moisture.
- In a blender or food processor, add the drained silken tofu.
- Add the unsweetened cocoa powder to the blender.
- Pour in the maple syrup or honey, adjusting the amount to your taste.
- Add the almond milk to help blend the mixture smoothly.
- Incorporate the vanilla extract and salt to enhance flavor.
- If using, add dark chocolate chips for extra richness.
- Secure the lid on your blender and blend on high speed until smooth and creamy, about 1-2 minutes. Scrape down the sides as needed.
- Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness or chocolate flavor if desired.
- If the mousse is too thick, add more almond milk, one tablespoon at a time, until the desired consistency is reached.
- Transfer the mousse into serving dishes, covering them with plastic wrap or a lid.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight for enhanced flavor.
- Remove the mousse from the fridge. If too firm, stir to loosen.
- Top with fresh berries for color and flavor.
- Optionally, sprinkle with chopped nuts for added crunch.
Notes
- For a vegan option, ensure to use dairy-free chocolate chips.
- Adjust the sweetness according to your preference.
- The mousse will thicken slightly when chilled, so avoid making it too runny.
