Description

This Juicy Cinnamon Roll Apple Cake combines the comforting flavors of cinnamon rolls and apple pie into one irresistible dessert. It’s a moist, fluffy cake swirled with sweet cinnamon and layered with tender, juicy apples.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 34 apples
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • a pinch of nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup softened butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 packet of dry yeast, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, warm 1 cup of milk until lukewarm, then add 1/2 cup of melted butter. Let it cool slightly before adding 2 eggs. Stir until combined.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Transfer it to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. While the dough is rising, peel and slice 3-4 apples.
  7. In a bowl, mix the apples with 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of cinnamon, and a pinch of nutmeg. Set aside.
  8. Once the dough has doubled, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  9. Spread 1/4 cup of softened butter over the dough, then evenly sprinkle the apple mixture on top.
  10. Starting from one long side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces.
  11. Line a round cake pan with parchment paper and arrange the slices, cut side up, in the pan. They should fit snugly but not be overcrowded.
  12. Cover the pan with a kitchen towel and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes while you preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  13. Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown. If the tops brown too quickly, cover them lightly with aluminum foil.
  14. Once done, allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
  15. For a simple glaze, whisk together 1 cup of powdered sugar with 2-3 tablespoons of milk until smooth, then drizzle it over the warm cake.

Keywords: Consider experimenting with different fruits like pears or berries. You can prepare the dough a day in advance and let it rise in the fridge overnight for deeper flavor. This cake pairs beautifully with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
