Ingredients
-
1 wheel Brie cheese (8 oz or 16 oz)
-
3–4 slices bacon, cooked and chopped
-
3 tbsp pure maple syrup
-
1/4 tsp black pepper
-
Optional: 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
-
Optional toppings: chopped pecans, fresh thyme, or flaky sea salt
-
Optional: 1 egg (for egg wash, if using pastry)
Instructions
For Unwrapped Brie:
-
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a small baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Place the Brie on the baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until soft to the touch in the center.
-
While the Brie bakes, cook bacon in a skillet until crispy. Drain and chop.
-
In a small saucepan, warm maple syrup over low heat. Stir in black pepper and chopped bacon.
-
Remove Brie from oven and spoon the warm bacon-maple glaze over the top.
-
Serve immediately with crackers, toasted bread, or apple slices.
For Pastry-Wrapped Brie:
-
Roll out thawed puff pastry and place Brie in the center. Spoon half of the glaze over the top.
-
Fold the pastry up around the Brie and seal edges. Brush with egg wash if using.
-
Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown.
-
Let cool for 5 minutes. Top with remaining glaze and serve warm.
Notes
-
Keep Brie whole and rind intact so it melts inside without leaking.
-
Puff pastry is optional, but adds a beautiful golden crust.
-
Add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the maple syrup for a spicy kick.
-
Vegetarian version? Swap bacon for toasted pecans or caramelized onions.
-
Serve warm for best texture, but it’s still delicious at room temp!
