Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 package (15.35 oz) Oreo cookies, crushed
  • Extra Oreo cookies for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Whisk until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and crushed Oreo cookies.
  7. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel and let it sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes.
  8. For thicker cookies, chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  9. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  10. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between each.
  11. Optionally, press a half Oreo cookie on top of each dough ball.
  12. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the edges are set and the centers are slightly soft.
  13. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  14. Serve the cookies as is or sandwich two together with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  15. Sprinkle leftover crushed Oreos on top for decoration.
  16. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
