- 2 cups fresh peaches, peeled and diced (or 1 can of peaches, drained and chopped)
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (for topping)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, starting with a third of the dry mixture, followed by half of the buttermilk. Mix until just combined, repeating until all ingredients are incorporated.
- Gently fold in the diced peaches and chopped nuts (if using) with a spatula.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon for the topping, then sprinkle it evenly over the batter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
