Equipment

  • Skillet or frying pan
  • Small bowl for mixing the sauce
  • Spatula or tongs for turning the shrimp
  • Measuring spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce low-sodium preferred
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes optional
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the Shrimp: Peel and devein the shrimp if not already done. Pat dry with a paper towel.
  • Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, and crushed red pepper flakes (optional). Set aside.
  • Cook the Shrimp: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season shrimp with salt and pepper. Cook for about 2 minutes on each side until pink and opaque.
  • Add Garlic: Push shrimp to one side and add minced garlic to the pan. Sauté for 30 seconds, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  • Coat with Sauce: Pour the honey-soy sauce mixture over the shrimp. Toss until evenly coated. Let the sauce simmer for 1-2 minutes to thicken.
  • Serve: Remove from heat, garnish with parsley, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Shrimp: Fresh shrimp is best for texture and flavor. However, frozen shrimp can be used if thawed completely before cooking.
  • Adjust sweetness: Feel free to adjust the amount of honey based on your preferred sweetness level.
  • Spicy version: For a spicy kick, increase the red pepper flakes or add a dash of hot sauce.
  • Serving options: This shrimp works wonderfully with steamed rice, pasta, or roasted vegetables.
