Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 cup finely chopped fresh spinach or thawed and squeezed frozen spinach
  • ½ cup shredded white cheddar cheese
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for cooking

For serving:

  • Burger buns or lettuce wraps
  • Extra white cheddar slices optional
  • Toppings: tomato avocado, red onion, pickles
  • Sauces: garlic aioli spicy mayo, or your favorite burger sauce

Instructions

  • Mix the patties: In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, spinach, shredded cheddar, garlic, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined—don’t overmix.
  • Form patties: Divide mixture into 4 even portions and shape into patties. Wet hands help with stickiness!
  • Cook: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook burgers for 4–5 minutes per side, or until internal temp reaches 165°F.
  • Melt cheese (optional): In the last minute of cooking, add a slice of cheddar to each patty and cover to melt.
  • Assemble: Serve on buns or lettuce wraps with your favorite toppings and sauces. Eat warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • If using frozen spinach, make sure it’s fully thawed and squeezed dry to avoid soggy burgers.
  • Want to make it dairy-free? Skip the cheese or use a plant-based alternative.
  • These freeze great! Form raw patties and freeze between parchment. Thaw in fridge before cooking.
  • Ground turkey can be swapped for chicken with similar results.
  • Make them mini for sliders or shape into meatballs for another twist!
